Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

Look Around!

I’ve been loving the beautiful fall weather. I’m pretty sure it was on a sunny fall day like the ones we’ve been having lately that novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote, “I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So, I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.”

I don’t always have the time or the luxury of spending time outdoors, but I do understand Hawthorne’s sentiment. It’s important for us to slow down and appreciate the simple things around us. In a world that’s all about productivity, how nice it is to just “be” in God’s good creation every now and then.

The most precious things in life are often the things that are easiest to overlook. The world can change in a hurry. By the time you read this, the beautiful October sunshine may have turned into cold November sleet and rain. Likewise, little ones grow up and beloved family members die. So, don’t waste a minute. Look around! Go outside! Express your love for the special people in your life. And certainly, don’t forget to join others in worship remembering the One from whom ALL blessings flow!
