Many years ago, I was driving from Ohio to Iowa for a week of vacation. The rest of my family had already gone ahead of me, so I was excited to join them. It was a beautiful summer day and about halfway there, I got off the Interstate to fill up my gas tank. When I got back on the road, I inadvertently headed back toward Ohio. I was smiling and listening to tunes for over an hour before I realized what I had done.
When you discover you’re going in the wrong direction, there is only one option: stop what you are doing, turn around, and go in the right direction. Losing a couple of hours of driving time is regrettable – continuing in the wrong direction is just plain senseless.
Jesus began his ministry with the shortest sermon in history, saying, “The Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the Good News.” In other words, God is showing you the way to go. Turn from the direction that you are now going and head in the direction of life.
Somebody once said, “With God, U-turns are allowed.” Join us this weekend as we discover how that is the Good News.
