This year’s theme for the Midwinter Youth Retreats is Salt + Light. Youth will be spending a weekend on Holy Ground at the Christian Conference Center in Newton with their Spiritual retreat group in February. There will be time for large group activities, games, salt and light science experiments and family group learning time to discover how Jesus calls us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world from Matthew 5:13-16. They will be taking a deeper dive into the importance of shining God’s light, which is the very purpose God gave each of us to do once we surrendered our lives to Him. We teach others what Jesus is like through our actions, words and attitudes in every situation. Just as salt preserves and enhances the flavor of our food, a growing relationship with Jesus preserves and enhances our lives. Just like the youth, we should challenge ourselves to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
