I believe in the power of community. Indeed, the theme that is guiding our programming this year is “Building Community.” But I’m always amazed and awed when I see authentic community in action.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve watched as our church came together to provide 178 beds for children in our community. It was a massive effort led the Fellowship of Carpenters, but it took a community like First Christian Church to make it happen.
On Sunday evening, our kids put on their annual Christmas musical. Once again, many disciples of Jesus working together in love created something beautiful and meaningful. I couldn’t have been prouder of our children or the volunteers who worked so hard to bring it all together.
Finally, on Monday night, Tammy and I hosted our church staff for our annual staff Christmas party. Of course, it was a time of fun and fellowship. But whenever we gather like that, I’m always reminded of how blessed I am to be working and serving together with a team of believers who earnestly desire to serve God and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
This Christmas season, I give thanks for the COMMUNITY of First Christian Church!
