My sons have been learning their parts for the Christmas Musical- Sheep in Heavenly Peace which will be performed December 3 at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary. The characters they play are learning how to become Bethlehem shepherds. In the process, they ended up becoming followers of our great shepherd Jesus Christ. The Lord calls us His sheep because in the same way a sheep needs a shepherd, we need Jesus to guide us, to protect us and to provide for our needs. Sometimes a shepherd will carry a helpless lamb in his arms, and a wonderful thing happens during that bonding process, the lamb finds security and learns to trust his shepherd. When the lamb begins to walk, he will never stray from the shepherd’s side again. Are you a wandering sheep? Look at God as your shepherd, and He will coax you back into the flock time and again. He will always hold you close to encourage you to stay with him. Psalms 95:7 says, “For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.”
