This past week, at our Saturday Night Alive service, we had a visitor that looked familiar. I couldn’t quite place where I’d seen him before, so I asked if he’d ever been with us in worship. He smiled and said, “I think I know where you’ve seen me. I’m the guy who sits in the corner at the Fourth Street Café during your Bible Studies on Wednesdays. I’ve been listening to your discussions and quietly nodding my head for a long time – so I decided to join you in worship.”
Naturally, I was pleased to hear our Dudes in a Diner group was having a positive impact in the world. But even more importantly, it was a reminder to me that people ARE paying attention. People are always watching and listening to what we say and do – especially when we call ourselves “Disciples of Christ.”
Someone once said, “Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people ever read.” In other words, how we live and treat others is the greatest testimony we make to our faith. So, don’t forget! Other people do notice, both when we fail to be a reflection of Jesus – and when we do it well.
