During the summer months, some things on our church calendar take a break. For instance, Wednesday night L.I.F.E. Groups and youth groups won’t start up again until September. However, other things take off! Indeed, summer might just be the best season of the year to see the heart of First Christian Church at work.
I believe one of the reasons God has blessed our church is because of our long-time commitment to children and youth and mission to others. A look at our summer calendar shows how these things are now “center stage.”
This week, our church is hosting a community VBS and the church has been transformed into the base camp of a Mt. Everest mountain climbing expedition. Next week, the first of many groups of kids will be headed off to the Christian Conference Center for a wonderful week at church camp, and our older youth will be going to Oklahoma City for their annual mission work trip. And then, after a busy summer, we will have our 2nd annual Disciples Together Mission Day on Saturday, August 22nd, just before our Disciples Together worship in Rand Park on August 23rd.
It’s going to be great summer of mission and ministry at First Christian Church!
