Charles Swindoll writes, “I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so, it is with each of us… we are in charge of our attitudes.” I came across a wonderful illustration of this that contains excerpts from the diary of a dog and a cat that shows what a difference our attitude can make. First from the dog’s diary:
8:00 a.m. Dog food! My favorite thing!
9:30 a.m. A car ride! My favorite thing!
10:30 a.m. A walk in the park! My favorite thing!
11:00 a.m. Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!
It goes on like that all day… Now an excerpt from a cat’s diary. It begins: “Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre, little dangling objects. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.”
If you are a cat person, you may not like that comparison, but you get the idea. Our mindset – how and what we think about day in and day out – really does make a difference. So, choose your attitude carefully and remember that Jesus loves you! My favorite thing!
