The adult choir is a group of volunteer singers from 9th grade – ??? with a common love of praising God through singing. The choir is a diverse group with varied musical backgrounds ranging from little to no experience to those who have sung in the choir for over 50 years. Reading music is not required, just a commitment of your time in service to God.
A typical Wednesday night goes something like this: we gather & chat, we laugh, we pray, we celebrate each other’s praises, we laugh some more…and oh yes, we sing and work hard because we want to give our best. Then we say good bye knowing we have a special group of friends celebrating with us and praying for us until we meet again. There are many more great reasons to sing in choir – here are some from our members:
- “There is a special feeling of closeness to God I have each Sunday when I join the other members of choir to sing God’s praises.”
- “I sound best when singing in a stairwell or on my lawn tractor, but singing praises to God is practice for Heaven. The fellowship in choir is a bonus.”
This group sings on most Sundays at the Traditional service from September through May. Rehearsals are weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 ~ 8:45 from the end of August through May. For more information contact director, Debbie Spears at 319-795-1132 or just join us in the sanctuary for practice. We think you will find this to be a welcoming group that will embrace you and leave you wanting to come back week after week to serve God through music ministry.
