Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

Behind the Scenes with Pastor Brian Nixon

This past Sunday night the Gathering young families group met online again. And this week we did a short reflection on a great scripture from the New Testament, Hebrews 10:23-25 which says,

“23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Often times, it is much easier, and my first desire to, rather than do anything, do nothing at all! It takes far less energy to do nothing! I am certainly one of the couchiest of potatoes. But I’ve heard it said, that “anything worth doing requires a certain threshold of effort.” Something I have to remind myself of often.

I really appreciated the thought raised by a member of our Life group last week, who reflected on our scripture saying, “what I think I’m hearing is, that on our own, often times we can lose hope. But together, it is much easier to hold on to it.” True! We need to hold onto hope these days, and if so, then really we need each other!

I have so enjoyed being able to gather together online for our life group, and in person with other believers during our worship services Sunday mornings for the past few weeks. I love that we can worship online, but nothing beats being together in the sanctuary. Being able to hear each other’s voices in worship, to look each other in the eyes, and encourage one another as we are together, is a great reminder for one another of the hope that we share in Christ Jesus. And all are invited to come and join in worship when you are comfortable, especially those now who are in the low risk category. Let us “not neglect to meet together… but encourage one another,” as Paul says in Hebrews.

I hope to be able to see you all soon or in worship at either 9am (most like 8am & 10:05am) or 11am (most like Saturday Night & 11:11). Or at one of our Life Group gatherings! “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23.
