Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

Everyday Faith

A few years ago, I went to a workshop led by a woman who had done a study of the fastest growing churches in the U.S.  What she discovered surprised her.  It turned out the primary strength of those churches didn’t have anything to do with size or music style.  The one thing those high functioning churches all had in common was that people felt comfortable talking to one another about their faith in everyday language.

After finalizing her study, she suggested an interesting definition of evangelism.  At its most basic, she said evangelism is simply “sharing something you enjoy with someone you like.”  Think about it like this: Do you have trouble talking about a favorite book or hobby with one of your friends?  Do you feel like you have to memorize anything or adopt a whole new way of talking?  Probably not.  In churches that are growing, people talk in genuine and enthusiastic ways about their faith and what it means to them.

At First Christian Church, we seek to “be and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.”  That means living in faith together and sharing the daily miracles of living in faith.   If you’re not already plugged in – join us!
