I came to First Christian in July of 2009 as our first financial manager—although with job description changes and staff additions, the administrative board changed my title to business manager a few years ago! I am responsible for all of the financial accounts of the church, oversight of contributions, stewardship development, inventory control, insurance audits, human resources, purchase accountability, facility administration, and risk management.
I graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines with a degree as an executive legal secretary and then pursued a paralegal degree through the Paralegal Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. I previously worked for the properties division of Hallmark Cards in Kansas City; a local law firm as well as nearly 20 years with First Community Bank ending my banking career as Vice President and Trust Officer.
My husband, Dr. Edward, and I have two grown children, Megan and Kali, and recently welcomed our first grandchild, Avery. In my “free” time, Ed and I love spending time with our daughters, son-in-law and grandbaby. We enjoy the river and feel very blessed to have this beautiful piece of water outside our front door! Ed and I are also very passionate about water quality, wetlands and conservation donating much of our time to Ducks Unlimited both on a state and national level.
What do I love about FCC?
I couldn’t ask for a better boss than God. It truly is a pleasure to come into work knowing I’m in God’s house – and knowing that I can pray with my co-workers without thinking about getting into “trouble!” The loving atmosphere is also so infectious!
