Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

Good News People

At our Disciples Together Worship, I introduced our theme for the coming year: “Sharing the Good News.” That’s our calling. And when we are successful in it, it’s never because of our overwhelming strength, but because of our love and hope. As disciples of Jesus, we persevere even when it would be easier to surrender.

One of my favorite perseverance stories goes like this: One day, a duck waddles into a drug store and says, “Hey, got any grapes?” The clerk looks down and replies, “No, we don’t have any grapes; we’re a drug store.” So the duck waddles out. A few minutes later, he waddles back in and says, “Hey, got any grapes?” Once again, the clerk says, “No, I already told you that. If you ask me again, I’m gonna nail your feet to the floor!” So, the duck waddles out. Five minutes later the duck waddles back in and says, “Hey, got any nails?” The clerk says, “No.” So the duck says, “Good, got any grapes?”

Like that duck, faithful disciples are resilient and hopeful because of the message we carry. Join us this weekend as we further explore and embrace the Good News of Jesus Christ!
