Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

Catch that Train!

Once again, Palm Sunday and Holy Week are fast approaching. Once again, we remember Jesus’ final trip to Jerusalem and the world changing events that happened as a result. On Palm Sunday, we remember how the rightful king, not only of Israel, but of all creation, rode into town with all the powers and principalities arrayed against him.

A number of years ago, the band U2 and blues guitarist B.B. King came together to do a song I often think about on Palm Sunday. It’s called “When Love Comes to Town.” The chorus of that song goes like this: “When love comes to town I’m gonna catch that train. When love comes to town I’m gonna catch that flame. Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down. But I did what I did before love came to town.”

The Good News is that Jesus didn’t ride in town in order to condemn and destroy – even though that’s what the world deserved. He came with the mission to destroy the strongholds of darkness. And he came armed with the most powerful weapon of all: love.

Hear the Good News! Love is coming to town – and there’s a place on that train for you!
