Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

Christmas Sunday

This Sunday will only be the third time this century Christmas day has fallen on a Sunday – and only the fifth time during the course of my ministry (1988, 1994, 2005, & 2011). I don’t remember much about 1988, but I definitely remember 1994 and every one after that.

What I remember best is worrying about interrupting family Christmases (my own included) and feeling rushed or harried on Christmas morning. But in every case, it was exactly the opposite of that. Not only did worship feel like the right place to be on Christmas day, but it was also more joyful and peaceful than I would have ever imagined possible.

This year, you have an opportunity to celebrate Christ’s birthday in worship. You can also begin 2017 in the same way. Of course, some will be traveling or have other plans and will be unable to attend. But if your schedule allows, I highly recommend making time in your family celebration to gather at the Lord’s Table with your church family.

On both December 25th and January 1st, there will be one worship service on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
