Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

A Seven-Day-a-Week Church

Last night, one of Keokuk’s presidential caucuses was held in our fellowship hall. Many people came to our church that may not enter a church at any other time. In case you didn’t know it, First Christian is a very important part of the fabric of the tri-state area.

This morning, I asked Mitzi (our administrative assistant) about some of the other groups that have used our building recently. In addition to family celebrations (birthday parties, baby showers, family reunions, etc.), some of the outside groups that have used our facility include: Keokuk Schools teacher training, Lifeline Screening, Red Cross Bloodmobile, the Keokuk Task Force for Open Enrollment, the Keokuk Area Community Foundation, TOPS, and a local PEO group. Groups that will have events in the near future include Sister Cities, SCC Career Day, the Lion’s Club Chili dinner, and many others.

As you might imagine, keeping up with all these groups and coordinating them with our own ministries is complicated and time consuming. Mitzi and our church business manager, Tammi Kircher, do an amazing job of working behind the scenes to keep our church humming with activity so we might not only be good stewards of God’s blessings, but a church that is serving seven days a week!
