Apparently the flu virus is making the rounds and it’s not one for which I (or anyone else) have been inoculated. Unfortunately, the person I sleep with every night has come down with it. As we all know, the flu virus is highly contagious. But then again, so are a lot of other bad things – like negativity, despair, and depression.
The Good News is there’s something about Christmas that’s contagious, too. A few years ago someone emailed me a warning about the Advent virus. It said, “Be on the alert for symptoms of inner HOPE, PEACE, LOVE AND JOY. This could pose a serious threat to what has been a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world. Some signs and symptoms include: • An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment. • A loss of interest in judging other people. • A loss of interest in conflict. • A loss of the ability to worry. • Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation. • Frequent attacks of smiling. • An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it ourselves.
This is a virus we need to spread far and wide! Join us this weekend as we expose ourselves to the Advent virus of JOY.
