It’s beginning to look a lot like fall in southeast Iowa – and it’s beautiful! Bright yellow, reds and oranges are appearing everywhere. But did you know those beautiful colors have been there all along? When fall comes and the chlorophyll stops circulating, the actual colors of the leaves become visible.
Sometimes when a person does something good or bad it is said that “they revealed their true colors.” There may be some truth to that. C.S. Lewis understood that our eyes can sometimes deceive us. In his book, The Weight of Glory, C.S. Lewis wrote: “…remember that the dullest most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare.”
God wants to work in us to create a masterpiece. He wants to prepare us “for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure”
(2 Cor. 4:16), so that someday when life falls away, what is revealed is truly beautiful.
Join us on the journey of faith as we are transformed, day by day, into God’s own people – from the inside out.
