Our mission leads us to be and to share the good news of Jesus Christ!

The Last Word

Rabbi Harold Kushner once wrote, “In a society that segregates the old from the young, the rich from the poor, the successful from the struggling, the house of worship represents one place where the barriers fall and we all stand equal before God.”

I’m always amazed at the diversity of people in churches – especially churches that are thriving and growing. It’s not unusual to have an unemployed person, a teacher and a lawyer all sitting in the same row, perhaps with a business owner serving communion and a factory worker offering the prayer. When you stop and think about it, it’s pretty remarkable. Nowhere else in society do people of all generations and economic classes come together like they do at church.

This coming weekend we continue “The Power of 12” as we explore Paul’s vision of God’s powerful community in 1 Corinthians 12. Paul understood the church as the Body of Christ – the visible witness of Christ’s love in the world. Paul also understood it as the place where believers can find their place in God’s kingdom.

There is power in community. Therefore, come and take your place for “You are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)
