This week our annual Stewardship Devotional guide and faith card for 2015 were mailed out (if you didn’t receive one, call or pick one up in the church office). The theme for this year is “Test and See That the Lord is Good,” which is a mash-up of Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse… Test me in this and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven…” and Psalm 34:8, in which the Psalmist writes “Taste and see that the Lord is good…”
For those who are willing to take a leap of faith, tithing is one of those rare “win-wins.” Not only is God’s mission furthered when we are faithful in our giving, but we are blessed in return. God is so certain of this he speaks through Malachi and says, “Test me in this! Just see if I don’t open up the floodgates of blessings for you.”
This month, you have the opportunity to experience the rich blessings of two spiritual practices – daily devotions and tithing. Have you already tasted God’s goodness? If yes, be sure to tell someone your story. If not, why not give it a try? It is a test you are sure to pass!
